Lay Pastoral Visitors
Lay Pastoral Visitors are a compassionate, trained group of parishioners who provide continuity of contact between the church and our friends and family who are no longer able to participate in regular church attendance. Visits are to those relocated to nursing homes or are considered shut-in, in their own home.
In 2000, St. John’s instituted a lay visitors group to visit a number of selected parishioners on a regular basis. These lay visitors received some training and will continue to be trained, supported and evaluated.
Lay ministries of every kind are a response to our common Baptismal vows. We are called to go into all the world to preach and live the Gospel. Many times in scripture the faithful are encouraged to feed the hungry, visit the sick and in prison, in other words, to Care! I want to thank those who have volunteered to be visitors for their help and faithfulness.
